My car stopped in the middle of traffic!! :(?

I ume its an automatic. It sounds like a transmission problem, I had a problem with the automatic transmission on a Toyota Corolla, sometimes when trying to accelerate the engine would rev, but it was like being in neutral, unfortunately it did need attention, I would try to find a transmission specialist, it may not be too big a problem but will probably get worse if left.
