Is it illegal for the power company to cut off power if there is a pregnant woman in the house?

I just moved in with my mom and she was 2 months behind on her power bill. I'm pregnant and already going to the complications clinic because there is a big risk I might lose my baby. The power company cut off the power today and it got up to 102 in the house and I had to leave to my grandparents because I couldn't keep hydrated. Is it illegal for them to do that? Definantly when it's so hot outside? She was only $300 dollars behind. My husband and I were trying to figure out a way to help pay it when it was cut off.
