Is being a Officer in the Army worth it?

I am graduating from HS soon and get free College. I have always wanted to be in the military and a lot of people are telling me to go to College first and then go in as an Officer. I want to be part of a Calvary Unit and I am just curious is being an Officer worth doing? but is going to College just to be an Officer worth it? I am a good leader, but honestly how much leadership is involved if your an Officer?
